BAY CITY, MI -- Classic rock band Styx returns to Bay City for the first time in six years this September.

The band, best known for its hits "Come Sail Away" and "Renegade," comes to town Friday, Sept. 8. Doors open at 5 p.m at Veterans Memorial Park.

Tickets go on sale Aug. 5 at Prime Brothers Furniture, 1500 S. Euclid Ave., Graff Chevrolet in Bay City, 3636 Wilder Road, and Rico's Authentic Mexican Takeout in Saginaw, 2720 Bay Road.

A one-day ticket price is $30 general admission and $45 VIP on Aug. 5 only. Ticket prices go up $5 after that date.

Styx comprises Chuck Panozzo, James "J.Y." Young, Tommy Shaw, Todd Sucherman, Lawrence Gowan and Ricky Phillips. The group plays about 100 shows per year.

The band has released 16 studio albums since its inception in 1972. Styx's latest record, "The Mission," was released June 16.

Brent James and The Vintage Youth open for the band.

The concert is sponsored by Soaring Eagle Casino, Saganing Eagles Landing Casino, Maier and Associates, Graff Chevrolet in Bay City, Fabiano Brothers, WNEM-TV5 and Wheelz 104.5.

The Bay City concert marks Styx's second stop in Michigan. The Chicago-based band visits DTE Energy Music Theatre in Clarkston on July 25.

Styx last visited Bay City in 2011, when it played the Bay City River Roar.
